Labor takes steps to become 'Union City'
The Northwest Oregon Labor Council took a giant first step toward becoming an AFL-CIO-recognized "Union City" with a planning session July 7 that drew more than 30 affiliates.

U.S. Supreme Court overturns class-action asbestos lawsuit

The U.S. Supreme Court issued a 6-2 ruling in the Amchem asbestos lawsuit that will prevent a $1.2 billion class-action settlement for workers who suffer from asbestos-related diseases.

Freightliner contract ratified

Employees at Freightliner Inc. in Portland ratified a new three-year collective bargaining agreement on the same day the old contract was set to expire -- June 30.
